The Stage Door Waterfront Restaurant

An update to my August review....food was still good but service still lacking a little, not as bad as before. Several people were kept waiting by the reception desk before being attended to. Taking of the orders could have been quicker. Two people walked out, tired of waiting for service. The Xmas decorations were pleasant. Room for improvement still. Wish I could give more stars, as the food was good, a large serving, especially the pork chop and was reasonably priced. But, we were there Saturday night (5/8/23), dining before the show at Manpac. We arrived at the time we booked - 5pm - but didn't get served till 6.20pm. The place was fully booked and nearly everyone was getting restless and angry at having to wait such a long time. The show was due to start at 7pm. Several groups walked out in frustration. We would have loved to finish with a dessert but there wasn't time. I believe they were short-staffed in the kitchen but no-one came out to explain or apologise for the delay. And surely Management should have had a Plan B for such circumstances? And finally, this was not the first time we have had to wait for our meal. But I think it will be the last for all four of us. Shame.

Booked for a dinner (6pm) prior to a show at MPAC starting at 8pm. Ordered our meal and received the wine and garlic bread promptly but that is where it finished. We saw other tables who had arrived at least 20 minutes after us receive their meals but alas ours did not arrive. We asked the waitress why delay and when she returned she said it would be in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later as 7:30pm rolled around we gave up and went to pay our bill . Miraculously the meal arrived but it was too late. When I stated that we did not have time to enjoy the meal, the maître de said "You have time, the show doesn't start until 8pm." There is no way we were going to woof down our meal and then have to sit in a theatre on a full stomach with reflux. I cannot complain about the waitress who was most understanding but the maître de and kitchen staff need a bit of customer training. I cannot comment on the food because it never arrived in time.

Booked for 5.30pm and arrived five mins early. Service was good and we were made to feel welcome. When booking said we had to leave to attend show next door, which started at 7pm. Wine selection ok. But despite ordering food early and explaining why we were, food didn’t arrive until about five mins before we had to leave, so can’t really say much about food quality or taste, having to rush to eat. At least we got our meal, at least three other tables nearby didn’t and those people just left! And then there was a queue to pay! Thankfully the guy at the bar saw our dilemma and let us pay there. Overall, not a good experience but not the fault of the friendly wait staff.
